Dear Fairfield Community,
Greetings! I am Jennifer Wood, your new Principal at Fairfield Center School. I am thrilled to begin the new school year at FCS, and look forward to meeting students, staff, parents, and community members.
I have experienced the most wonderful welcome here at FCS. July 1st was my official first day. I was warmly greeted by several kind staff members when I pulled up with my boxes to move in. A few folks have been working hard to spruce up the building: they repainted the exterior facade (it is a striking Vermont green) and did a vigorous job readying my office for me. Thank you to Shannon, John, Terry, and Bet for their generous work in painting, cleaning and organizing the space for me.
As I make this transition to Fairfield, I am aware of the anticipation and eagerness that accompanies new leadership in any organization. I know that change can provoke both excitement and anxiety. It is my goal to spend my first several months learning about our school and all of its stakeholders. I eagerly anticipate getting to know the FCS community, and learning about your hopes and dreams for our school. What is important to you about Fairfield Center School? What do you want to learn more about? What are we proud of? What do we want to work on?
Finding out the answers to these questions is one of my “Entry Plan” goals, if you will. I believe that genuine collaboration fosters ownership of a rich school culture. Supporting our kids to do well at school, and in their lives, is the center of our work. I am honored to have been selected to serve this community, and will work hard to gain your trust and respect as Fairfield’s principal.
Please feel free to stop in, and introduce yourself to me. I will be at school most every day between today and July 14th. I will be out of the office for a Power School training on July 15th, and on vacation from July 16th-26th. My family and I will be enjoying time together with close friends. I hope all of our students, staff, and families also get to enjoy some quality time together this summer. I look forward to meeting all of you!
