When to keep your child home:

The cold and flu season will be here soon! The following are guidelines to help determine when a student should NOT come to school. Your child will also be sent home if they arrive at school with any of the following:

  • Your child has a FEVER of 100 degrees or higher during the night or in the morning. Your child must be fever free without medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen for 24 hours.
  • Your child has experienced VOMITING or DIARRHEA during the night or morning.
  • Your child has a persistent COUGH that keeps them from sleeping or normal activity. Or a cough that is not controlled by medication.
  • Your child has a widespread RASH.
  • Your child has a red, swollen EYE with draining pus and/or crusted upon waking. This could be pink eye and needs to be treated by a physician. If your child is diagnosed with pink eye or conjunctivitis, they must be on antibiotic drops for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Your child has a SORE THROAT with a fever and/or swollen glands in the neck. This could be strep throat and needs to be treated by a physician. If your child is diagnosed with strep throat, they must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.

Medication Policy

If your child will need to take medication at school, it must be brought to school in the original container by a parent/guardian.  Please do not send the medication to school on the bus with your child. Before any prescription medication will be given at school a form needs to be signed by the prescribing doctor and also the parent.  If the forms are not signed, the medication will not be administered.  For over the counter medication that parents want their child to take during the day, the medication still cannot be sent in on the bus.  The parent/guardian must bring in the medication and fill out a form stating what the medicine is and at what time they need to take it.  In the forms section below is the medication permission form that will need to be completed. One is for prescription and one for non prescription medications.  For your convenience these forms can be printed and completed prior to coming to school. One form is for prescription medications that I will fax to the prescribing doctor to sign, the other form is for over the counter medications.
