My Goals:  Art to me is a place to learn about the person you are, and want to be in the future.  I strive to show you as many techniques, applications, mediums, vocabulary and possibilities that I am able.  A goal of mine is to learn how I can contribute to your education, creativity, involvement, and future. My goal as an art educator is to teach you to express yourselves visually through the creation of art.  My goal is to teach how to create art in more than one way, to overcome obstacles and challenges, expose you to as many artists and cultures as possible, and to give you the confidence to communicate your personalities.  Art is a very personal; you share what you are comfortable with but don’t doubt your capability.  Art is also challenging for most people, therefore don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Course Description: Students will be expanding their knowledge of the elements and principles of design, learning new techniques, beginning to develop personal style, and reflecting on their work as well as their classmates.  We will be working on a number of skills, techniques, and different mediums throughout the year like ceramic creations, wire sculptures, earth sculptures, two & three dimensional design, painting, and printmaking.

Attendance: Swiftly walk down to the Common School; therefore we will have the maximum amount of time to create.  If you miss a class, check in with me the next day you attend school, so you don’t feel way behind the following art class.

Classroom Behavior: Many students share our art space.  Be respectful to yourself, your classmates, your art materials, and your art space this is imperative for the safety and well being of all the students who use the space.  Disregard for the class rules will result in loss of privileges, detention, and parent/principle contact.  I only see you for 40 minuets a week; therefore it is expected that you promptly come in, sit down, and be quiet so I can discuss and demonstrate quickly.  After directions I promote positive chatter as well as musical devices (although if they are not used properly they will be taken for an extended amount of time: shared, too loud, inappropriate or on while someone has the floor.)
